(Vancouver, BC – June 27, 2024) Legendary Vancouver Heavy Rock act JAR. (aka FLYBANGER) will reunite for a one-off benefit concert BUSTERFEST, a special tribute to the band’s former manager Clyde Hill, who is battling pancreatic cancer.

BUSTERFEST will take place on Saturday, July 27 2024 at The Rickshaw Theatre in Vancouver, BC. The event will feature performances by JAR. with support from OC/DC, members of NOISE THERAPY, with more to be announced. Speaking about the event, JAR. bass player and BUSTERFEST organizer Tom MacDonald says:

Clyde is the manager/promoter who, when no one else was paying attention, discovered and developed huge bands like JAR/FLYBANGER, NOISE THERAPY and a lesser known Alberta band: NICKELBACK. I hope everyone will join me in extending our deepest wishes for his recovery. I can’t thank Clyde enough for his friendship and mentorship over the years I have known him.”

BUSTERFEST takes its name from Clyde’s nickname, Buster, for which he was immortalized in the 1996 NOISE THERAPY track called “Hey, Buster!”

Clyde Hill began his musical journey playing bass in the fledgling Chicago Funk band RAMA, touring Japan in the early 1980s before immigrating to Canada. He formed AMAR Management in the 1990s during which he helped launch the careers of the city’s most successful acts from that era, including NICKELBACK (Roadrunner Records), NOISE THERAPY (A&M Records) and JAR. (Columbia Records, as FLYBANGER).

Clyde Hill remains an important fixture on Vancouver’s live music circuit: his long-standing promotion MAGNETIZED PRODUCTIONS continues to book up-and-coming talent in a city with an evaporating live rock scene; MAGNETIZED MANAGEMENT actively manages a collective of local talent, in which includes BCCMA award-winning act ME AND MAE.

JAR. released their debut EP “Harsh and Discord” independently in 1996, receiving national distribution with the help of Clyde and AMAR Management. Their 1998 independent full-length album “Knott Skull” charted nationally thanks in part to the bands’ relentless cross-country touring.

In 1999, both JAR. and NICKELBACK were included on CFOX’ prestigious SEEDS promotion which brought the attention of major labels. JAR. signed with Columbia / Sony, and changed their name to FLYBANGER, releasing one full length album, Headtrip To Nowhere.

FLYBANGER toured internationally alongside the likes of CLUTCH, CORROSION OF CONFORMITY, SEPULTURA, and SOULFLY; before succumbing to various record industry pitfalls. The members have continued to work with Clyde in various capacities.
